When was the care certificate introduced?
The Care Certificate was developed jointly by Skills for Care, Health Education England, and Skills for Health. It was introduced in April 2015.
Healthcare assistants and adult social care workers are required to complete this training as part of their orientation program. The Care Certificate resulted from the Cavendish Review, which was published in July 2013. This review was part of the response to the Francis Inquiry into the failings of care at the Mid-Staffordshire NHS Trust.
