About the Role: We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Support Worker to join our team at the Women’s Only Hostel. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing holistic support to residents, ensuring their safety, well-being, and progress towards independence.
Key Responsibilities:
Working with women in hostels:
· Listening and Counselling: Offering a sympathetic ear and basic counselling to residents dealing with trauma, anxiety, or other issues.
· Crisis Intervention: Responding to crises, providing immediate support, and facilitating access to emergency services.
· Daily Living Support: Assisting with tasks like meal preparation, budgeting, and personal care.
· Health and Well-being: Helping residents access healthcare services, including arranging appointments and transportation.
· Rights and Entitlements: Informing residents about their rights and assisting with accessing benefits and legal aid.
· Personal Development: Encouraging participation in educational and vocational training to enhance skills and self-sufficiency.
· Individualised Support Plans: Developing and implementing tailored support plans based on each resident’s needs and goals.
· Monitoring and Review: Regularly reviewing and adjusting support plans as needed.
· Ensuring a Safe Environment: Maintaining a secure and supportive environment, including monitoring access and managing safety concerns.
· Conflict Resolution: Managing conflicts among residents using mediation and negotiation skills.
· Social Activities: Organising and facilitating group activities and social events to foster community and reduce isolation.
· Peer Support: Encouraging peer support networks to strengthen communal bonds.
· Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of resident’s progress, incidents, and interactions.
· Reporting: Preparing regular reports for management or funding bodies on the hostel’s operations and resident’s outcomes.
Requirements
· Must have supported women who have experienced the following things: domestic violence, drug and alcohol, substance misuse & mental health etc
· Must have overseas police check if you have not worked in the UK for longer than 5 years
· Have an enhanced Child and Adult DBS registered on the update service or willing to process a new one through Prospero Health and Social
· Capable of providing references covering the last 5 years.
